Damning report exposes eastern Uganda detention facilities poor conditions

The report highlights several key issues within prisons, including overcrowding, inadequate staffing, prolonged pre-trial detention, the mixing of juvenile offenders with adults, and mothers incarcerated with their children.

The commission found many detainees or inmates, both on capital and petty offences, on remand for over 10 years without their cases being disposed of.
