The Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, Jacob Ateirweho, has urged Christians in the diocese to embrace coffee farming as a means of improving household incomes.

Bishop Ateirweho announced that the diocese is setting up a coffee demonstration farm and called on the faithful to support the initiative.

He made the remarks while launching the celebrations of Mary’s Day organised by the Mother’s Union at St. James Church of Uganda in Kigorobya on Sunday.

Grace Mukugize, the Mother’s Union president for Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, said the Mary’s Day celebrations will be held across the diocese and urged Christians to support the women’s ministry.

She added that several activities have been organised to raise funds for the construction of the Mother’s Union guest house at St Peter’s Cathedral in Hoima City.

Mukugize noted that the event also served as an opportunity for Bishop Ateirweho to announce the Church of Uganda’s provincial theme: “Imitating God’s goodness.”
