The Chinese envoy to Uganda, Zhang Lizhong, on Friday toured the offices of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and held talks with the secretary general, Richard Todwong.

During the courtesy visit at the NRM party secretariat on plot 10 Kyadondo road in Nakasero, Kampala, the Chinese envoy thanked NRM for the mutual cooperation it enjoys with the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the people of China.

NRM officials said in a statement that during the talks, Todwong also assured Lizhong of "NRM’s continued commitment to working with China in consolidating the already existing strategic bond between the two revolutionary Political Parties."

"Lizhong who was delighted to meet the ‘youthful’ Secretary General, thanked the NRM government for the warm reception and hospitality received upon his appointment," NRM officials added in a statement issued shortly after the meeting with the Chinese envoy.

The two leaders also committed to continue spearheading the cordial bilateral ties between Uganda and China.
