Chief prosecutor Abodo appointed Principal Judge

In a letter authored by President Museveni, a copy of which New Vision Online has seen, the President says his appointment is in exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 142(1) of the 1995 Constitution.

KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Director of Public Prosecutions Jane Frances Abodo as Principal Judge. 

In a letter authored by President Museveni, a copy of which New Vision Online has seen, the President says his appointment is in exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 142(1) of the 1995 Constitution.

"I have, acting on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission, appointed Hon. Lady Justice Abodo Jane Frances as a Principal Judge."

The President says he has forwarded Abodo's name and CV to Parliament for approval.
Confirmation

In confirmation of the letter, Museveni’s Special Assistant in charge of press and mobilisation,

Faruk Kirunda, says, "I hereby confirm that the letter circulating on social media regarding the appointment of Hon. Lady Justice Jane Francis Abodo as the new Principal Judge is authentic. 

Kirunda also congratulated Abodo in the same post on social media today, August 30, 2025.
