The Uganda National Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) is set has finally organise elections for its Arua City branch’s leadership after the first attempt on Wednesday, October 8, flopped.

Speaking to Arua One FM on Sunday, Arua City commercial officer, Jobel Ayiko, said the first election flopped due to two groups that emerged without harmonising their voter register.

This forced the Arua Deputy Resident City Commissioner, Ham Ezama, to stop the electoral process and request the National Chamber of Commerce secretariat to resolve the matter.

UNCCI president Olive Kigongo later provided guidance with a harmonised voter register where 220 paid-up members will on Monday cast their votes at Heritage Court Hotel.

Ayiko said security has been briefed especially the Police to ensure a peaceful process is exercised.

Two candidates have shown interest in the position of chairperson; Ronald Debo the director of Rhema Group of Companies, and Ceasor Draecabo, the president of Arua City Development Forum.

Debo has pledged to ensure a vibrant chamber in Arua City with organised businesses, asking all those undertaking business to register and conduct it legally to fight poverty.

The outgoing chairman, Jackson Atima Lee Buti urged the electorate to exercise their duty to elect leaders for a vibrant chamber for good business in Arua City.
