Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has appointed deputy army spokesperson Col. Deo Akiiki as his military assistant.
Akiiki, who announced the news in a brief statement on Friday (February 28), said his appointment takes immediate effect.
He thanked members of the media for the long time he has worked with them since the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency in greater north in 2004 as the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) public relations officer.
“It is a statement of honour and trust that I’m going to serve at the helm of the leadership of UPDF. I don’t take it for granted and I thank the CDF and indeed the entire leadership of UPDF for the trust in me,” Akiiki said.
He called upon members of the media fraternity he referred to as comrades to continue working with the office of the Defence Public Information headed by acting Maj Gen Felix Kulayigye and the yet-to-be appointed deputy.
“Continue to give them as much support as you have always done. God bless you; God bless Uganda; God bless the mighty UPDF,” he prayed.
