July 28 has been earmarked as the day when Catholics will celebrate Fr Dr Giuseppe Ambrosoli who has been beatified today, November 20, 2022, in Kalongo, Agago district.

The revelations are contained in a letter written by Pope Francis, which was in response to a letter written by Fr Baritusio, the postulator of the Comboni Missionaries of Rome, asking the Pope to include Ambrosolli on the list of the blessed.

The Apostolic letter, which was addressed to Gulu Archbishop John Baptist Odama, was read to the congregation attending the beatification mass today.

The beatification comes after two years of postponement due to the pandemic.

According to Comboni Missionaries, Fr. Giuseppe Ambrosoli who was a medical missionary, was born on July 25, 1923, in Ronago, Italy.

He was one of the sons of the founder of the eponymous honey company.

Ambrosoli enrolled in his medical studies precisely with the desire to leave for the missions: “God is love, there is a neighbour who suffers and I am his servant,” he explained to his family.
