FUFA Drum Semi-Finals

Busoga 1-0 Teso

Busoga Province registered a 1-0 victory against Teso Province in the second leg of the semifinal clash of the on-going FUFA Drum football tournament at St. Joseph Vocational Training Institute playground on Sunday.

Busoga won on a 3 to 1 aggregate against Teso after also defeating it in the first leg where it (Busoga) beat Teso 2-1 at Soroti stadium.

Jeromy Kiirya scored in the first half of the game to ensure Busoga went to the finals.

The game was graced by Busoga Kingdom’s second Prime Minister Owek. Alhaji Osman Ahmed Noor who was flanked by FUFA President and Budiope East Member of Parliament Eng. Moses Magogo. Osman and Magogo witnessed Busoga edge Teso in a narrow 1-0 victory.

As he closed into the opponent’s goal side, Kiirya kicked the ball over Teso Province’s goalkeeper Tom Ikara and smartly tapped it inside the back of the net sending supporters and his team players into vigorous jubilation.

Despite Teso having many chances to score against Busoga, Busoga Province’s goal keeper did all the endurable moves to make saves, a thing which frustrated the chances of Teso team players to secure a goal.

Teso Province’s head coach John Michael Erebu admitted defeat saying that they had a very good fight but Busoga utilized their chance and won.

Sir Daniel Gulele, the CEO of Busoga Province said “I promised Busoga that we would reach the final and indeed here we are and close to taking the FUFA Drum 2023 trophy.”

“We are at the level of taking the championship of this edition and I request our supporters to be strong and continue supporting the team,” Gulele noted.

Busoga Provincce’s head coach Charles Lukula Ayeko said he is the happiest coach adding that when his team visited Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV at his Budhumbula Palace in Kamuli district, they promised him that they will bring the FUFA Drum trophy home adding that since he got for Busoga Inhebantu, they are going to increase efforts to see that they emerge champions of the FUFA Drum.

Busoga Kingdom’s second deputy Prime Minister Owek. Alhaji Osman Ahmed Noor appreciated FUFA President Moses Magogo and other VIP guests for attending the game.

Busoga Province will tussle Lango Province in the final to be played at a stadium yet to be named.
