Bunyoro Kitara diocese: At least 11 priests and two deans to retire

Bishop Ateirweho said that due to the retiring of clergies, they have made transfers and promotions of priests who will report on duty on February 1, 2025.

A total of 11 priests and two deans from Bunyoro Kitara diocese are set to retire at the end of this year.

This was revealed by the Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara, Rt. Rev. Jacob Ateirweho, while ordaining 13 priests and 14 deacons at St. Peter’s Cathedral Duhaga in Hoima City on Sunday.

Bishop Ateirweho said that due to the retiring of clergies, they have made transfers and promotions of priests who will report on duty on February 1, 2025.




In the new transfers and appointments, Rev. Canon Francis Mugisa, who has been serving as the diocesean secretary has been appointed as the dean of Kagadi Archdeaconry, He will be replaced by Rev. Canon Francis Barongo, currently serving as the dean of Kigaaya Archdeaconry.

Venerable Reverend Gad Akankwasa, has been appointed the dean of Bulindi Archdeaconry, Rev. Edison Akora as the new dean of Kigaaya Archdeaconry and Rev. Julius Kamuntu as the dean of Kigorobya Archdeaconry.

Also, Rev. Kenneth Mutabazi is the new bishop's chaplain replacing Rev. Justus Alinaitwe, and Rev. Jeniffer Ssetabi Nyangoma is the new diocesan women's coordinator.
