Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaga later led the king to Karuziika Royal Palace, where he met the Omukama in the presence of some members of the Royal Family, Royal Commissioners and selected members of the Alur community in Bunyoro-Kitara.

Byakutaga, in brief remarks, listed several programs the kingdom is undertaking and suggested areas of partnership with the Alur Kingdom for the better of the people of the two Kingdoms.

Olarker Rauni III appreciated the hospitality he and his delegation were accorded.

“It gives me profound pleasure to be here with my delegation in response to your Majesty's invitation,” he said.

He said the Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara and the Kingdom of Alur have a common historical heritage and ancestry dating back to the 16th century during the Luo migration when the founding father of the Babiito dynasty Rukidi separated from his brother Kyebambe to establish himself as the first King in the Babiito dynasty in Bunyoro.

“It is from the above historical background that we the Luo, consider Bunyoro-Kitara as our second home, which explains why today the largest population of Alur, Acholi and Lango have found it hospitable to settle in peace and harmony among their kins here in Bunyoro-Kitara, the Alur King added.

He said he is pleased that the people of Bunyoro-Kitara and Alur work together to contribute significantly to political discourses and socio-economic development in the two Kingdoms.
