The Buganda Royal Institute fraternity is mourning the demise of their workmate who was killed in a boda boda accident during the wee hours of Monday (April 18).

Shakka Balubulwa, 33, who has been the personal assistant to the Principal at Buganda Royal Institute, Mengo in Rubaga division, died instantly when an unknown motorist hit him.

He was traveling on a boda boda in Kyengera, along the Kampala-Masaka highway.

According to eyewitnesses, a speeding motorist hit the boda boda from behind, forcing the passenger to hit his head on a stone beside the road, killing him instantly.

Fred Lumala, the Nsangi Division Police Commander, confirmed the incident, which he said, happened on Monday at around 1 am but could not give further details.

Edward Mukisa, a workmate to the deceased, said he has been staying at Kazinga-Kinaawa in Kyengera Town Council and was returning home on a boda boda.

He said the rider survived with serious injuries and was still undergoing treatment in a health facility in Kyengera.

"Police handed over the body and were preparing to transport it to Tega village in Buikwe district for burial. Balubulwa was survived by a wife and two children," Mukisa said.

“We are shocked by his sudden death,” Mukisa stated.
