Kamuhanda is the superior of the Brothers’ Province of St. Michael the Arch-angel, covering Kenya and Tanzania.
The celebration took place at the chapel of Mt St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK), on Entebbe Road, in Wakiso district, on New Year’s Day (Thursday, January 1).
The function, which also coincided with the Catholic Feast of Mary the Mother of God, was presided over by the Archbishop of Kampala, Paul Ssemogerere.

In his homily, Ssemogerere paid glowing tribute to the Brothers of Christian Instruction for their contribution to the Church and the country.
He said the Brothers, through their vocation and mission of educating and giving moral formation to children and young people, had given holistic empowerment to generations of Ugandans, who are now serving humanity in the country and elsewhere in the world.
Pope Leo XIV was so much impressed with the ministry of the Brothers that he sent them his Apostolic Blessing. During the same function, 11 new novices of the congregation were unveiled.
