British High Commission in Kampala to hold commemorative service for late Queen

According to British High Commission Communications Officer Tina Wamala, the service will be held tomorrow (Thursday, 15th September 2022) at 2pm prompt.

Born on April 21, 1926, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom passed on September 8, 2022, in Scotland.

TRIBUTE | QUEEN | ELIZABETH 

KAMPALA - British High Commission Kampala will hold a commemorative service in honour of the life of Queen Elizabeth II at Namirembe Cathedral.

According to British High Commission Communications Officer Tina Wamala, the service will be held tomorrow (Thursday, 15th September 2022) at 2pm prompt.

Born on April 21, 1926, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom passed on September 8, 2022, in Scotland. She was replaced by her son, King Charles III.

The event will include Government dignitaries, members of the interreligious council, members of the Diplomatic corps, partners, media and the general public.

Wamala said the service will be led by the Bishop of the Diocese of Namirembe, The Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, with participation from the Dean of the Cathedral of Namirembe, The Very Rev. Canon Jonathan Kisawuzi.

“All are welcome to this opportunity to reflect on the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her unstinting and devoted service to the entire Commonwealth,” she said.

The Government of Uganda will be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, General Haji Abubaker Jeje Odongo, alongside the British High Commissioner, Kate Airey OBE.
