The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt Rev. Moses Banja, has rallied Christians to protect the environment in his Christmas sermon at Namirembe Cathedral.
"Let Jesus come with the good news of protecting the environment or else the risk of the country turning into a desert is real," he said while elaborating on the worst desert conditions in the Middle East.

He implored: "We need to protect our environment jealously."
Bishop Banja went on to decry actions of constructing and establishing settlements in the lake and river buffers and wetlands.

He attributed the deadly disasters such as the Bududa mudslides and floods, which have killed and displaced many, to such reckless actions.
"God created trees, mountains, rivers, lakes, and others with a purpose, let us protect them," he said.

The cleric equally implored Ugandans to boost government efforts in fighting corruption.
"The government has played its role, but we also need to play our role," Banja said before he decried the too much corruption in Traffic Police, which has not even spared the clergy, including him.
