The Rotary Director nominee, Emmanuel Katongole and the family donated $1000 on behalf of Bishop Banja, immediately elevating him as a Paul Harris Fellowship.
Banja was decorated and handed a certificate of Rotary membership by Pearl Ijeoma, the Rotary International Trustee.
"This is your certificate of membership, and I hope that you will display it somewhere where others will see that you have accepted the invitation to join Rotary," she said.
Banja who started off by appreciating Katongole for inviting him into Rotary, said him joining Rotary was a dream come true.
"Before I say what I want to say indeed, I want to appreciate my brother, my friend, Emmanuel Katongole, director nominee for inviting me into this club. I knew that from the very day that it was God working through you to invite me and be part of what I love, which indeed I wanted to join many, many years,” Banja said.
He added "To God be the glory. As the Bishop Namirembe Diocese, I feel honoured to be inducted as a member of the Rotary Club of Mengo this morning by none other than the Rotary International President, whose theme is the 'Magic of Rotary' indeed, my experience with the Rotary fraternity in the past few years have been quite magical for me, especially when it comes to serving above self."
"The Church and Rotary have so much in common when it comes to touching lives, and I strongly believe that my new engagement will compound my service in both the church and the world, acclimatizing," he said.
