The South Rwenzori Diocese Anglican Bishop, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has r plans to extend mission and evangelism to the sex workers and Street Kids in Kasese Town in an attempt to make them get saved.

The prelate revealed the plans on Friday, February 5, 2026, while preaching to hundreds of believers who had thronged St James Besenia Church of Uganda Parish, St Paul’s Deanery, situated in Kasese Municipality.

Baluku explained that the rate at which the number of sex workers and street children is increasing in the area is alarming and needs special attention, including pastoral visits and evangelism, in an attempt to rehabilitate them.

"We shall be visiting most of their renowned spots starting at 8:00 pm until midnight. If you see me on their streets, don't think otherwise," Baluku said as the entire crowd laughed.

In his sermon, Bishop Baluku based his move to reach out to the sex workers, reflecting on the gospel according to Luke 19:10, which says 'For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost' and urged other church Ministers to do the same so as to save the souls of many.

"Most people are desperate in sin to the extent that they feel they can never go back to Church. So reaching out to them can restore their lives gradually," he said.

He also reiterated the need for the Christians to suitably position themselves and target God’s blessing like the Biblical Zacchaeus and categorically advised them to desist from pursuing things that are not within their means and affordability, arguing that such an act has left many in dismay.

At the same function, the man of God confirmed 103 Christians into the Anglican faith.
