Police in Kampala are investigating the death of a 34-year-old bodaboda rider following a fight allegedly sparked by a disagreement over English Premier League football clubs.
The deceased, identified as only Denis, a resident of Bakuli in Kampala Central Division, reportedly died on Saturday evening after an altercation with a man only identified as Musiramu.
According to Police, the incident occurred at around 6:30pm on May 24, 2026, in Bakuli, Rubaga division, within Kampala.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Denis, said to have been an Arsenal supporter, got into a misunderstanding with Musiramu, who is alleged to support Manchester United.
The disagreement is said to have escalated into a physical fight during which Musiramu allegedly hit Denis on the head, causing him to collapse and die instantly.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said investigations into the incident are ongoing and efforts to arrest the suspect, who is on the run, are underway.
She said the deceased’s body was taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
The incident comes at a time when Arsenal fans across the world are celebrating the club’s first English Premier League title in 22 years.
The Gunners clinched the 2025/26 league title last Tuesday after Manchester City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth, ending Arsenal’s long wait for the trophy under manager Mikel Arteta.
