The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has distanced itself from an online advert calling for medical professionals to apply to join it.

A statement issued by army spokesperson Felix Kulayigye says the army does not solicit or accept applications through unofficial channels or social media platforms.

Fake job adverts are a growing concern in the country, exploiting vulnerable job seekers. These scams, which usually cause financial and emotional harm, usually involve fraudulent job postings designed to steal personal information, money, or both.

Sometimes, unsuspecting victims are asked to pay fees for non-existent opportunities, leading to financial loss and wasted time.

"Any recruitment processes will be officially announced through authorised UPDF communication channels, including our official website and verified social media accounts," Kulayigye says in a statement issued on June 19, 2025.

He, therefore, urged the public to exercise caution and verify information through official UPDF channels first.
