Kampala Catholic archbishop Paul Ssemogerere has praised the Catholic faithful in his archdiocese for their generosity and love for the Church.
He praised them with even greater gratitude for donating relentlessly to the various projects of their respective parishes, and also those of the archdiocese.
Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere (wearing a green chasuble and a mitre) shares a photo-moment with the Christian leaders from Ndeeba parish during the SAAFU collection function at Lubaga Cathedral on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
“This year, we have had many projects and activities which we have been asking you to support. They include the Ssabasumba Annual Appeal Fund (SAAFU) and Yooyoota Lubaga Cathedral. But we are also aware that you have various projects and activities that you are supporting at your parishes and sub-parishes. Many of you are building churches. Some of you are organising jubilee celebrations. All the same, every time we have called upon you for financial support, you have responded positively. We thank you for your generosity and love for the Church. Please keep it up,” Ssemogerere said.
He was delivering his homily during the solemn Pontifical Mass that he presided over at Lubaga Cathedral on Sunday, October 12 (2025).
The Chairman of SAAFU, Edward Kanyikie (left) and Michael Ssebbowa Mukasa (a member of the SAAFU committee) deliver their message of gratitude during the fundraising function at Lubaga Cathedral on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
The mass was particularly organised for the official collection of the cash donations for this year’s Ssabasumba Annual Appeal Fund (SAAFU), from the Kampala Archdiocese Vicariate of Kampala.
SAAFU is a self-reliant cash pool that the archbishop of Kampala uses to run the projects/activities of the Church without necessarily relying on foreign assistance.
This year’s SAAFU collection will be used to construct a multi-purpose home for the elderly/sickly priests. The complex will be built in Bweya, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso district.
