KIRUHURA: The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu is in Western Uganda for a pastoral visit to the Diocese of North Ankole.

On Friday, he was received by Bishop Stephen Namanya in the company of his wife Lydia, the Clergy and jubilant Christians who assembled at Kaguta road in Lyantonde District.

During his three-day visit, the Archbishop is expected to interact with the faithful and the clergy, inspect Diocesan projects and lead prayers (service) in various churches.

Main celebrations to commemorate his tour will be held at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kazo on Sunday.

Since his arrival, Kaziimba’s social platforms have been vibrant with photos documenting his tour.

In one of the posts, he shares a walk with his host, describing it as one of the activities to keep healthy.

“My brother Bishop Stephen Namanya and I decided to take a health walk today morning around Rushere hill. Every morning, I ensure that I exercise, either by jogging or walking on the stairs in my house 24 times to remain healthy. It's also good to regulate your eating habits,” says Kaziimba.

On his first day, his tour included a visit to Mr. Dennis and Mrs. Phoebe Abaasa at their home in Nyakahita, Kiruhura District.

“Dennis has a powerful testimony about the healing hand of God after undergoing a number of successful surgeries,” Kaziimba revealed in a post of X formerly Tweeter.

On Friday, Kaziimba inspected the site in Rushere which will host North Ankole Mission Hospital. The hospital will have a theatre, pediatric ward, male and female wards, special clinics and pharmacy, according to the Archbishop.

He also visited Rurambira Parish in Kyakabunga, North Ankole Diocese, North Ankole Platinum SACCO, the Clergy pension house and Bishops' Girls Secondary School. 

Kaziimba prescribed these as great developments.

“In 2017, my brother Bishop Stephen Namanya initiated the opening of North Ankole Platinum SACCO in Rushere town which I was delighted to visit today. The SACCO has 3236 members, Shares of 559.6M, a loan portfolio of 1.1b and has another branch in Kazo. I am sincerely impressed! I commend North Ankole Diocese for focusing on self-sustainability, he stated in another post.

After inspecting the Diocesan Ranch in Kakyera on Saturday, Kaziimba described the projects as “revenues which help the Diocese in the work of mission and outreach. I commend North Ankole Diocese for focusing on self-sustainability,”

The ranch which has over 350 cows and a number of goats is located at Rurambira in Kyakabunga Archdeaconry.
