The retired ambassador of the Vatican (Apostolic Nuncio), His Excellency Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, has spoken highly of Vision Group journalists, describing them as calm, committed, and resilient professionals who sometimes even risk their lives to serve the public.

Archbishop Kasujja, who hails from Mitala-Maria in Mpigi district, is the first-ever black African Apostolic Nuncio. He has served in various countries since he entered the Vatican diplomatic service in 1979.

He has served as the Vatican first secretary, second secretary and ambassador in countries such as Argentina, Haiti, Bangladesh, Algeria/Tunisia, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Madagascar, Seychelles, Reunion Island, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Portugal, PerU, Mauritius, Belgium and Luxembourg, just to name a few.

Kasujja made his remarks of gratitude today (Wednesday, August 2) during his visit to the headquarters of Vision Group in Kampala.

“This moment of prayer in your own headquarters offers me an occasion to pray for each one of you, media people who risk your lives to serve the public with firsthand information and with the truth. I use this opportunity to thank you all for your dedicated service during the Covid-19 and post-covid-19 pandemic,” Archbishop Kasujja, said.

The Archbishop called upon journalists to continue showing the rest of the world that in Uganda we fear, honour God, respect and love one another not simply for material and egoistic ambitions but just “For God and my Country.”

The Prelate later reminded Vision Group journalists of some of the ideas Pope Francis shared with the Foreign Press in Italy on May 18, 2019.

He said the Pope called on the media to work together and create happiness for all.

He said that if you work for truth and justice, communication becomes an instrument for building not for destroying, for meeting not for clashing, for understanding not for misunderstanding, for walking in peace, not for sowing hatred, for giving a voice to those who have no voice, not a megaphone to those who shout louder.
