KAMPALA - The media fraternity and other stakeholders on Thursday turned up at Makerere University Kampala for the 2023 Annual Media Convection.

The 2023 convention that is organized by the university school of Journalism and communications is running under the theme ‘Bringing Culture Back In Media, Communication and Youth Engagement in the digital Age.’

The department has held the annual convention since 1998 with the aim of providing a forum for discussing emerging issues in media, journalism, communication and society in Uganda and beyond.

The event has attracted scholars, professionals, practitioners, policy makers, regulators, researchers, students and other stakeholders in the field of media, journalism and communications.

According to organizers, this year’s convention will address the critical intersection of media and communication, culture, youth engagement and national transformation.

Juddy Kamani a trustee of the Nabagereka Foundation is representing the guest of honour the Nnabagereka of Buganda Sylvia Nagginda, and Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe is represented by his deputy Prof. Umar Kakumba.

The keynote speaker at the event is Prof. Prof. Elizabeth Lubinga of the University of Johannesburg.
