Tributes are being paid to the Rt. Rev. Daniel Othniel Wanasolo Gimadu, the Anglican Bishop Emeritus of North Mbale Diocese who succumbed to motor neuron complications at Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital on Wednesday (May 10, 2023), aged 74 years.

Gimadu attracted even more flowery tributes during the special funeral service that was organized for him at All Saints Cathedral, Kampala on Friday (May 12, 2023).

The Assistant Bishop of Kampala Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Hannington Mutebi (who delivered the homily during the service), praised Bishop Gimadu for his unwavering zeal and commitment to the Anglican evangelistic ministry.

“Our brother Dan Gimadu was a committed and prayerful person who also loved his ministry. He accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour and also served him diligently. He was generally acknowledged as an invincible prayer warrior, a down-to-earth prelate with a big heart. He had a personal intimate relationship with Jesus. He had the conviction that our citizenship is in heaven,” Mutebi observed.

Bishop Gimadu’s deep faith and commitment to the ministry of preaching the gospel was also acknowledged with heart-rooted admiration by Bishop Emeritus Joel Sampson Obetia (Madi-West Nile), the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Kyambogo University Prof. Fabian Nabugoomu, Hon. Nandala Mafabi and elder Aner Madete Wangolo among several others.

The family members led by the deceased Prelate’s wife Ruth Gimadu and his daughter Florence Wanyenze Ndawula, also gave moving testimonies of his wonderful character and commitment to the Christian faith that he always preached with great passion and conviction.

Funeral Programme

A funeral service has been organised at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Mbale, today (Saturday, May 13, 2023) at 2pm.

After the service, the body of the deceased Prelate will be taken to his family home at Buginyanya (Bulambuli district) for a vigil.
