The District Police Commander (DPC) and the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) of Amuru district have been transferred amidst controversies surrounding the death of the District Veterinary Officer (DVO).
Superintendent of Police Joseph Nsabimana (DPC)v has reportedly been replaced with Superintendent of Police Francis Liga, while Lt. Joseph Ebaalo (DISO) has been replaced with Nicholas Ojul.
The handover of the office of the DISO was held on Sunday at the district headquarters while the DPC’s is yet to happen.
Unconfirmed reports have it that, deputy DISO Julius Mande has also been transferred, a new development that has raised eyebrows from a section of the public which believes that the transfers are in connection with the death of DVO Dr Samuel Ochora.
Ochora was reportedly accidentally shot dead in the wee hours of January 25, 2024, during the eviction of the non –complainant Balaalo (herdsmen) from Akee Village, Kololo parish, Lakang sub-county in Amuru.
His death angered many, who demanded for the transfer of the security heads of the district from their offices and arrests, since some of them were part of the team carrying out the operation from where Ochora died.
However, Aswa West Region Police Commander Samuel Asiimwe, told Radio Rupiny that the DPC’s transferred to Isingiro district was a normal one.
RDC goes on leave
Meanwhile, in another twist of event, Amuru Resident District Commissioner Stephen Odong Latek wrote an open letter indicating that he would be out of the office for a 30-working day leave effective February 12, 2024.
Proscovia Acham, his deputy, would be in charge, according to Latek in the letter dated February 12, 2024.
