LIRA CITY — Police in Amolatar District have arrested the director of Kings of Kings Secondary School over allegations that he obtained sh210,000 from a parent under the pretext of registering her daughter at the school, but allegedly failed to do so.
The suspect, identified as Jasper Opio, was arrested following a complaint lodged by Betty Adero, 42, a resident of Angaoryemi Cell, Namasale Town Council, Amolatar District, on October 12, 2026.
According to North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly received the money on June 8, 2026, claiming he would register the complainant’s daughter, Susan Angom.
However, the alleged registration was not completed, prompting the mother to report the matter to Amolatar Central Police Station, where a case of obtaining money by false pretence was registered.

Police said statements from the complainant and the suspect had been recorded, and the suspect was being held in police custody as investigations continue.
Okema said police were yet to record statements from relevant witnesses and the alleged victim before compiling the case file for submission to the Resident State Attorney for perusal and legal guidance.
He cautioned school directors and headteachers against engaging in fraudulent practices, warning that those found culpable would be arrested and charged in accordance with the law.
“We wish to caution directors of schools and headteachers against such bad practices. This must stop,” Okema warned.
