The deputy head of Uganda’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Henry Mayega, has been appointed as Consul General for Uganda’s consulate in Dubai.

A Consul General is a consular officer of the highest rank, who is stationed at a place of considerable commercial importance and supervises several other consuls.

Therefore, Mayega will be stationed in Dubai, which is the commercial capital of the United Arab Emirates.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry permanent secretary, Vincent Waiswa Bagiire, made the pronouncement in a letter dated May 26.

“In the interest of service and in your own interest, it has been decided that you be appointed as the Consul General for Uganda’s consulate in Dubai with immediate effect,” Bagiire announced.

Bagiire asked Mayega to hand over office as deputy head of Mission of Uganda’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi so as to take up the new appointment.

“You should, therefore, hand over the office in accordance with section F-d of the Uganda Public Service Standing Orders 2021, and arrange to report to your new duty station,” the permanent secretary wrote, before asking the foreign affairs ministry accounting officer to facilitate the changes.
