MUBENDE - Detectives have launched investigations into the death of a couple suspected to be victims of domestic violence in Mubende district.
Lameck Kigozi, the Police Wamala Region public relations officer, identified the deceased as 37-year-old Ronald Tumusiime, a teacher and his 40-year-old wife, Justine Kamukama, a businesswoman.
Their bodies were recovered in their house in Luwesama cell, Nabingola town council, Mubende district.
“Elvis Senabulya, the neighbour, said he heard the couple's only two-year-old child crying from the bedroom in the evening. He went and pipped inside through the window only to see their bodies on the floor in a pool of blood,” Kigozi said.
Police said the neighbour informed the local leaders, who reported the matter to Nabingoola police, who were later joined by Mubende homicide team.
“Since the house was locked with padlocks inside, security forced open the locks to gain access. Signs of a physical fight were visible in the house, with many broken household items. The bodies were found with deep cut wounds. Many were shocked to see the bodies of their neighbours dead the following day. The bodies were taken to Mubende hospital for postmortem,” Kigozi revealed.
He said some witnesses reported hearing a loud verbal exchange between Kamukama and Tumusiime on Sunday evening, April 19
