A multi-million-shilling water and sanitation facility has been commissioned at Kidongole Health Centre III in Bukedea district to improve health service delivery.
The facility, constructed by the Rotary Club of Namugongo, is expected to enhance working conditions for health workers and improve patient care, especially during emergencies.
Rotary club president Dr John Kameri said the project, which started in 2019, has expanded from a four-in-one staff house to include water and sanitation facilities aimed at improving the livelihoods of health workers.
Bukedea district health officer Dr Stephen Ikodet welcomed the development, noting that improved staff accommodation and sanitation have increased demand for services at the facility, with more health workers willing to be posted there.
Meanwhile, Joseph Amodoi, who is in charge of the facility, highlighted challenges including a lack of wards and insecurity due to the open space, calling for further support.
Community members also welcomed the development, saying it will improve access to quality healthcare services.
