Quality Chemicals set to unveil new paediatric HIV/AIDS drug

KAMPALA - Kampala-based Quality Chemical Industries Ltd (QCIL) is set to launch a new quality control laboratory and paediatric HIV/AIDS medicine today (October 8, 2025), as part of celebrations marking its 20th anniversary.

Lilian Namagembe, a communications consultant, told New Vision Online on behalf of QCIL that the celebrations, which will take place at the company headquarters in Luzira Industrial Park, are expected to be graced by President Yoweri Museveni as the chief guest.

“This landmark occasion will celebrate two decades of QCIL’s contribution to improving access to quality, affordable medicines in Uganda and the region. The event will also feature the commissioning of the new Quality Control Laboratory and the launch of paediatric HIV/AIDS medicine,” she said.

According to its website, QCIL is a publicly listed pharmaceutical manufacturing company, established in Uganda by Ugandans in 2005.

The company is committed to advancing wellness and is the largest producer of World Health Organisation pre-qualified HIV/AIDS and malaria treatments in the region.

Qcil manufactures essential medicines, particularly for life-saving treatments such as antiretrovirals (ARVs) for HIV/AIDS, artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) for malaria, and drugs for Hepatitis B, among other therapeutic areas.
