The Ministry of Health has launched a nationwide mosquito net distribution campaign in Uganda, aiming to protect families against malaria.
In Oyam District, where malaria is a major public health challenge, 279,500 nets have been delivered to all 74 parishes.
Assistant District Health Officer Oyam, Caroline Agaro, confirmed the development, emphasising that collective responsibility is key to reducing malaria cases and deaths.
Agaro added that malaria has continued to burden Oyam District, especially children under five years and pregnant women.
In the last financial year, malaria accounted for over 40 per cent of outpatient visits, with a test positivity rate of 53 per cent.
Agaro called on all residents of Oyam district to register their households for the nets and put them to good use.
