"Artistes also have a challenge of using social media. Most times in rehab, we don’t allow them to have phones to prevent them from the negativity that is on social media," Sempiira said.

Dr Edward Sempiira of Life Back Foundation, a mental health non-government organisaton, which partnered with the Uganda National Musicians Federation, has complained of the challenges they face while treating their celebrity clients.

He revealed that many have airs and do not want to follow guidelines.

"Artistes also have a challenge of using social media. Most times in rehab, we don’t allow them to have phones to prevent them from the negativity that is on social media," Sempiira said.

He made the observations at A'lure Hotel & Residences in Mutundwe, Kampala on May 14, 2024 as he was giving a speech on mental health. May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

"Since we have partnered with the federation, we are going to try hard to teach artistes about mental illness and how to prevent it," Sempiira said.

Many artistes attended the camp, including the president of the muscian federation, Eddy Kenzo.

While addressing journalists, Kenzo expressed regret that many people on social media are callous.

They comment anyhow. They don’t care how you feel or what you are passing through. They just care about likes. What hurts most is that they include famil," he said.
