Korea foundation boosts greater Masaka health service delivery

The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) has partnered with the health ministry of Uganda to boost health service delivery in the Greater Masaka region.

The boost has seen the handing over of the newly refurbished maternity ward at Butenga Health Centre IV in Bukomansimbi district on September 12, overseen by health ministry permanent secretary Dr Diana Atwiine.

The facility's out-patient and emergency unit block, a surgical ward and operating theatre were also equipped. 

The laboratory and maternity ward, according to Atwiine, have been refurbished and a digital X-ray installed.

The emergency care equipment and supplies, an ambulance, and a digital emergency care health information system.

"All this capacity is enabling Butenga HCIV to handle referrals from Bukomansimbi, Masaka, Lwengo, Ssembabule and Kalungu and from as far as Gomba. This has been achieved with partnership and support from the KOFIH project," Atwine says.

"We have also handed over a Digital X-Ray, 4 vehicles to support the Community Health Extension Workers project, 968 VHT Kits for Masaka and Bukomansimbi District VHTs under the KOFIH project at Masaka RRH. We also inspected ongoing construction works for the Masaka hospital complex that will house most of the hospital services," Atwiine posted on X formerly Twitter.
