Health ministry raises concern over rising cataract cases
In Uganda, Wasomoka said cataracts are more prevalent among elderly people of 50 years and above, comprising about 54.1% of the total eye surgeries performed annually.
Wasomoka said while cataracts do not directly cause death, the resulting blindness can severely affect quality of life and increase the risk of accidents.
KAMPALA - The Ministry of Health has raised concern over rising cases of eye diseases, specifically cataracts, which are the leading cause of blindness in Uganda.
