Gulu Regional Blood Bank has collected 23 units of blood on the first day of the medical camp organized at Kaunda Ground in Gulu City on Thursday.
Patricia Auma, who spoke to our reporter on behalf of the Principal Medical Officer of Gulu Regional Blood Bank said they were short of seven units of blood since they have a target of collecting a minimum of 30 units every day during the three–day medical camp.
She also appealed to the general public to go and donate blood to save lives of those in dire need of blood in health facilities.
The activity was conducted ahead of the World Malaria Day celebrations slated for Friday, April 25.
The national celebration will be in Gulu City under the theme: “Malaria ends with us: re-invest, re-imagine, re-ignite."
