In a bid to provide high-quality healthcare accessible, affordable, and dependable for individuals and families in Uganda, dfcu Bank and Jubilee Health Insurance has launched dfcu BlueCare.
BlueCare is a fully packaged medical insurance product designed to enhance inpatient, outpatient, dental, and optical benefits services with coverage limits reaching up to sh120m, giving customers protection under one comprehensive health package.
The dfcu BlueCare is an all-inclusive health insurance product that offers four flexible plan options in packages of Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, allowing customers to choose coverage that best fits their healthcare needs and financial capacity.
Premiums start from as low as sh981,000 per year (exclusive of tax), or approximately sh 2,800 per day, making quality healthcare achievable for more Ugandans than ever before.
Speaking during the launch in Kampala early this week, Arthur Kintu, dfcu Bank’s Head of Bancassurance, said the product was created in response to growing demand from customers across the bank’s branch network.
“The product comes on the backdrop of the need from our customers in the different regions where the bank operates. We reached out to a very good friend of ours at Jubilee Health Insurance, and since the start of this year, we’ve been in the kitchen trying to come up with this product,” he explained.
Maryann Wanjiku Michuki, dfcu’s Chief Business Solutions and Marketing Officer, stated that BlueCare aligns with the bank’s purpose of “transforming lives and businesses.
“So many families in Uganda still find themselves one medical emergency away from financial difficulty. dfcu BlueCare is our way of saying to our customers, you are not alone.”
Jubilee Insurance Uganda CEO Dan Musiime said the partnership reflects a shift in how insurers are approaching accessibility and innovation.
“Innovation is reshaping the insurance landscape. It’s not only about products; it’s about the courage to create new partnerships that make insurance simpler and more inclusive. With collaborations such as these, we can walk many, many miles,” he said.
The two institutions said the partnership aims to expand access, reduce costs and improve insurance penetration by leveraging dfcu Bank’s national footprint and Jubilee’s experience in medical cover.
Uganda’s insurance penetration remains below 1%, a gap dfcu says leaves many families exposed to financial shocks caused by medical emergencies.
