AIM 2023: Gold for Uganda as best investment destination in East Africa

This year's three-day Annual Investment Meeting kicked off in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, on Monday.

 ANNUAL INVESTMENT MEETING 2023 

Uganda has been recognised and awarded as the best investment destination in East Africa at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) 2023 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).




Dubbed as the biggest investment platform, the three-day meeting of global investors, entrepreneurs and innovators got under way on Monday.

This latest edition was inaugurated at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Uganda's embassy in the UAE and consulate in Dubai are participating in the annual engagement.

Also taking part are the Uganda Investment Authority, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Export Promotions Board and Uganda Free Zones Authority.

The Ugandan cast is there to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), technology transfer, as well as promote Uganda’s exports and tourism. 

AIM 2023 is themed around a paradim shift in investment, with the focus on "future investment opportunities to foster sustainable economic growth, diversity, and prosperity".

The meeting and exhibition is seen as a leading platform for global investors in the world, with over 170 countries worldwide represented.

It has drawn decision-makers, investors, experts, and academic figures from all over the world to discuss the shift in the global investment landscape. 

AIM is an initiative of the AIM Foundation, an independent international organization committed to empowering the world’s economy by boosting effective promotion strategies and facilitating opportunities for economic productivity and expansion.

The 2023 Annual Investiment Meeting got under way with keynote speeches as well as live panel discussions featuring business leaders and leading policy makers, who talked about their experiences and shared tips with participants.

UAE's foreign trade state minister Dr Thani bin Ahmed al Zeyoudi took the honour of welcoming everyone to this year's meeting on behalf of his government.

He underlined the significance of sustainability in global economic growth as well as public-private partnerships in investing in the integration and interconnectivity of supply chains.

Meanwhile, Uganda's embassy in the UAE has an engagement pavilion at the exhibition with a wide range of stuff on display to showcase brand Uganda.
