KAMPALA - Musician Douglas Mayanja aka Weasel's partner Sandra Teta has been released from Kabalagala Police Station following a family-led intervention.

Her early Thursday, August 7, 2025, morning release came hours after she allegedly assaulted Weasel with a white Mercedes vehicle (registration UBH 148Y) during a confrontation at a bar in Kampala city suburb of Munyonyo.

The incident

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the altercation occurred in the early hours of Thursday. Teta reportedly drove the vehicle into Weasel, injuring his right leg severely. He was rushed to Mukwaya Hospital before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital, where he remains admitted.

Family’s plea

Weasel’s brother, Pius Mayanja aka Pallaso, revealed the family’s urgent request for Teta’s release.

“We intervened because Weasel explicitly asked us to secure her freedom so she could care for him during treatment,” Pallaso said.

The family, including Weasel’s parents, met with the Police and Teta’s representatives to negotiate her release.

Teta recounts incident

During questioning, Teta tearfully recounted the incident and disclosed a history of domestic abuse. She displayed scars across her body, alleging repeated beatings by Weasel.

“I endured silently to avoid putting him in trouble, but last night… I couldn’t take it anymore,” she told detectives.

Ongoing investigation

Police confirmed the Mercedes involved remains impounded at Kabalagala Station. While Teta has been released, investigations continue to determine the circumstances of the assault.

Owoyesigyire said: “Releasing her doesn’t close the case. We’re collecting evidence to ensure justice.”
