Police in Kampala are holding 93 vehicles impounded in different operations on Thursday, May 2nd.

Law enforcement officers heap the blame on owners who installed: illegal sirens, roof lights, and modified lights.

In some cases, the motorists violated the one-way rules.

The operation was conducted by officers from stations in Kampala and Wakiso namely: Wandegeya, Katwe, Kabalagala, Kajjansi, Kawempe, Jinja Road, Kiira Division, Kiira road and Central Police Station.

Michael Kananura spokesperson for the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety revealed that after their vehicles were impounded, police recorded statements of the drivers of the impounded vehicles are expected to appear in court as per the provisions of the Traffic and Road Safety Act 1998.

Warning  drivers and owners of vehicles in these categories to comply and remove them immediately, Kananura in a public statement added that these operations will continue until all such vehicles are addressed, added.

His office also circulated several photographs of the impounded vehicles.
