Parents in Ankole Anglican Diocese and other parts of the region have been urged to enhance the personal development of their children by engaging them in productive work, especially during holidays.

The call was made over the weekend by Ankole bishop Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa while addressing parents who witnessed the launch of a proposed site plan for Mbarara Junior School.

He also commissioned a shillings163 million school gate and inaugurated the school's new management committee.

Mwesigwa noted with concern that many parents have ignored the monitoring of their children and because of this, many children have ended up in harmful behavior including joining wrong groups during the holidays.

“Please engage them in productive work. I encourage all parents to use holiday time to give children a skill," he said.

According to him, such skills are needed as they help children in their careers

He hailed parents and the leadership of Mbarara Junior School management for reviving the schools, which had almost collapsed and lost resources.

“An institution is a lengthened shadow of the leader, once the leader is doing well everything reflects well in the background,” Mwesigwa stated.

The headteacher, Nathan Mugume, said the commissioned multi-million project was meant to end traffic at the school.

Mbarara Resident City Commissioner Lt Col James Mwesigye urged area residents to use the prevailing peace to improve their household income.
