Yake Yake Festival launched in Uganda

The Yake Yake festival that happened at Millenium Park Lugogo on Saturday ended prematurely because of low audience turnout.
The event that was supposed to go on up to midnight ended before 10:00pm.
The low turnout made singers like Jose Chameleone, Cindy, Ykee Benda cancel their performances, which left the organizers with no option but to give the stage to upcoming singers and rappers like Shanta Morgan, Mcity, Busy Summer among others.
Among the top artistes that were meant to perform, its only Jazz Band that performed from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and later left the stage for the upcoming singers and rappers who were meant to be curtain raisers.
The Yake Yake festival event is the first of its Kind in Uganda and will be happening once every year.

It was organized by Mar Jacob Edube and Polish swing musician Dr. Woytek Mrozek who has been in Uganda for the last two weeks.
According to Mrozek, the word Yake is a swahili word that means Yours. He says the festival is for fun-loving Ugandans to enjoy performances of their favourite musicians backed by a good live band, good sound, and lighting system.
Upon his arrival in Uganda, he said, he organized this event because he loves Uganda and its art and culture and added that he will be organizing the same event in his home country Poland in the coming years.
He hopes to invite Ugandan artistes to go and perform there.
