Bat Valley Theatre was ablaze with glitz and glamour on the evening of February 23, 2024 as Veronica Nakayo, renowned for her acting prowess and captivating voice, debuted her stage play, The Long Lost Mile, written by Alia Nanfuka and directed by Juliet Nantambi, at Friday Night Lights Mubutaala.

Friday Night Lights Mubutaala, a recurring event scheduled for the last Friday of every month, serves as a platform to showcase the talents nurtured under the guidance of film director Mariam Ndagire. The inaugural show, held on January 29, 2024, featured Faridah Nabagereka, whose stellar performance left the audience clamoring for more, akin to the insatiable appetite of Oliver Twist.

Clad in a resplendent blue gown adorned with silver accessories, Nakayo graced the red carpet amidst the thunderous beats of drums, a gesture signifying respect and honour from her devoted fans.

The electrifying atmosphere fuelled her determination to deliver an unforgettable performance, showcasing her skills honed as a distinguished graduate of the Mariam Ndagire Film School.

Nakayo, overflowing with gratitude for her steadfast supporters, expressed her  appreciation and vowed to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence in her craft, promising even more enthralling productions in the future.

Among the esteemed guests were luminaries of the acting world such as Ndagire and Annet Nandujja, alongside scholars of theatre, all of whom added to the palpable excitement with their enthusiastic cheers.

The actors, led by the exceptional talents of John Mary Sekimpi, brought their characters to life with such conviction that the audience was swept away on a journey through the captivating storyline of The Long Lost Mile.

Storyline
The play starts with a colourful wedding of a genuine happy couple full of music and dance. After a few months of her disturbing pregnancy, the wife entrusts a friend to watch her husband upon the advise of other close friends. The friend turns out to be her co-wife who takes the man for herself. The wife is abandoned with her pregnancy, which leads to the loss of her child.

The man later turns back after the lady stole everything from him, but finds the wife has moved on with another man.
