Upcoming singer Carol Sky has accused songwriter Mudra D Viral (Alfa Ssebunya) of fraud.

Carol alleges that the incident began when she was introduced to Mudra by her then friend, DJ LL, for a collaboration and a songwriting project in  January 2024.

She recounts that during their initial meeting, Mudra expressed admiration for her talent after listening to some of her songs.

Carol said he agreed to collaborate with her on a track, and they negotiated a fee of sh6m for the collaboration, which did not include promotion or a music video.

The resultant song was titled Koona.

Following the release of Koona on March 16, 2024, Mudra reportedly proposed an additional budget for the promotion of the song, including expenses for television and radio stations, as well as other media platforms.

During an interview with Carol on Wednesday, June 5, she said she agreed to the promotional budget of sh27m. She claimed that after providing Mudra with the agreed amount, no promotional activities were carried out.

“At our first meeting with Mudra, he listened to my songs and he liked my work instantly. He said provided I give him money as he wanted, he was not hard as I thought. We agreed on paying him sh6m for the collaboration fee without video and audio production costs and I paid to zero balance. The next day, he called the audio producer to come to his home and we recorded the audio called Koona and  we released it. Like any other rising artiste, who was aggressive with being a star, I put all my trust in Mudra. He had made his name, so I was sure of him making me a celebrity. We then agreed on the promotion process where he proposed to me a good promotion plan of how he would use his publicity to make my song rich on all television and radio stations. He asked for sh27m and I paid it in installments," Carol said.

She is disappointed that Mudra did not allegedly fulfil his part of the bargain.

"Mudra went with my money and the song was not working or playing anywhere. I want him to pay my money back," Carol said.

What Mudra says
“Carol is a mature lady. I am sure she understands well what she is talking about and whatever she has talked about is what she thinks is right and deserves. I do not blame her for anything. DJ LL  brought her to me and she asked me for a collaboration song during Ramadhan. During that special period, I do not do anything related to music or my work. I distance myself from performances and any kind of secular work while I am preparing my heart to make it pure to and clean for God. They came and asked me to work during Ramadhan. I advised her team to wait and we finish Ramadhan, but they insisted. God comes before work. It's true I asked for sh7m for my services. However, she pleaded that she never had it and we negotiated up to sh5m which she paid in cash . For promotion, she gave me the money that I budgeted and all the money was used as per the plan that we had. I used to send her the screenshots for accountability as I was paying the people in charge of promoting her song. Carol wanted to use the name of our company as a member and we agreed to it, but as a privately-funded artiste and she was fine with it as well. She went on and requested me to make her like Ava Peace, she wanted her position where she could move with me all the time," Mudra said.

Mudra accused Carol of tarnishing his name and brand.
