The Ugaboys, renowned for their trending hit Salary, have sparked a feud with three prominent Ugandan artistes — Pallaso, Gravity Omutujju and Eddy Kenzo.

During an appearance on a city-based TV, Sulaiman Malinga and Muhammad Musungi who make up the group suggested that certain songs in Uganda lack the quality to naturally attract public attention.

The duo pointed out specific tracks they deemed subpar for the Ugandan market, citing Eddy Kenzo's Balipila Boda, Gravity Omutujju's Okwepicha and Pallaso's recent collaboration with Jamaican dancehall sensation Konshens, Want Woney. They asserted that some songs are imposed on audiences by media and promotional experts hired by the artistes themselves.

"Fortunately, Ugandans reject songs that don't meet the mark, although some are forced onto the audience, creating a false impression of their quality. Examples include Balipila and Okwepicha," stated the group.

This statement stirred considerable online attention, with some music enthusiasts suggesting the duo is attempting to generate controversy to capitalise on the fame of the targeted artistes. Former Vision Group presenter Winnie Success responded, urging the Ugaboys to choose between being musicians or analysts, emphasising their failure to focus on their own success.

While Kenzo, Pallaso and Gravity have since refrained from retaliating, the Ugaboys continued their critique, drawing parallels with Alien Skin, who gained attention by dissing prominent figures such as Pallaso and Bobi Wine. Observers advised the duo to concentrate on their career development rather than fostering animosity.

It's noteworthy that in the 2000s, musical rivalries paved the way for the success of singers like Bobi Wine, Chameleone, and Bebe Cool.

The Ugaboys are recognised for their songs such as Nteredde, Science, Joli, Siva Mu Party, Freaky Friday, Collabo and Yolesa.
