However, it was the song’s hook that had everyone buzzing, and that was performed by U.N.I.Q.U.E, a sort of on and off member of Klear Kut. U.N.I.Q.U.E has gone dramatically quiet over the last decade or so, but the unconventional nature of this catchy hook is burned into the memory of everyone who was alive and listened to the song at the time.

GNL spent the majority of his early career creating groundbreaking music. Soda is the kind of song that falls into this category, a deceptively simplistic song with a wonderfully catchy hook that simply insisted on staying with you.

By the time this song dropped, GNL was already established as the pre-eminent Lugaflow artiste.  The lad was packing charisma, and his tongue-in-cheek approach to his lyrics made him hugely popular.

However, it was the song’s hook that had everyone buzzing, and that was performed by U.N.I.Q.U.E., a sort of on-and-off member of Klear Kut. U.N.I.Q.U.E has gone dramatically quiet over the last decade or so, but the unconventional nature of this catchy hook is burned into the memory of everyone who was alive and listened to the song at the tie.

U.N.I.Q.U. E’s career as a musician never really took off after Soda dropped, which was something of a pity.

It would have been nice to know what the lad, whose government is Kenneth Kizito, had up his sleeve, because that performance on Soda literally came out of nowhere.

I didn’t feel like this was GNL’s best work. It was as relatable as usual, which is one of the reasons his material was often such a hit, but it wasn’t as snappy as his usual standard was wont to demand.

This song rode on the heart and soul that U.N.I.Q.U.E. brought to that hook. He delivers it so plaintively, with a heart rending sound that gets to your soul.

The production quality of this particular track was a little rudimentary, but they saved their work for the hook, capturing U.N.I.Q.U. E’s notes neatly, which was a good thing.

He carried this song.
