The Old Boys of Namilyango College have always prided themselves in their school as the first-ever secondary school in Uganda.

For that matter, they have always insisted on high standards in everything they do. Namilyango’s culture of excellence was even more visible during the school’s 121st anniversary, which took place at the school in Mukono district.

The function started with a thanksgiving mass presided over by the Bishop of Lugazi Catholic diocese, the Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza.

But the function would certainly not have been all that blissful without the presence of the Speaker of Parliament, the Rt.Hon. Annet Anita Among and her husband, Engineer Moses Magogo, who interestingly, is an alumnus of the school.

The couple caused a lot of excitement and became the focus of attention.

Among provoked even greater excitement when she praised Namilyango College as one of the greatest institutions in the country, which has also produced most of the greatest men, including the country’s “number three man” (Engineer Moses Magogo).

She later donated sh50m towards the newly established Peregrine Kibuuka Endowment Foundation, a charitable fund for needy students created by the alumni and Board of Governors of Namilyango College in memory of the late Peregrine Kibuuka, the school’s longest-serving headteacher.

Among later promised to mobilise the legislators to support the fund and the school’s 10-year strategic plan.

The congregation was also happily stunned by the massive donation of sh500m from one relatively young alumnus, the seasoned pharmacist Anthony Natif.

Another marvel of the function was the students’ mass choir, whose top-notch musicianship greatly elevated the beauty of the thanksgiving mass
