City socialite Don Zella (real name Sheila Nadege) wrote a long apology letter on March 29 to her long-time nemesis, Zari Hassan, asking her to forgive her hurting her when she lost her husband, Ivan Semwanga.

Semwanga died in South Africa in May 2017.

In a post on her social media handles, Zella said she was overcome with emotion.

“The words I used were not good during the time when your husband passed away and when you were grieving. As a mother, I shouldn’t have said what I said to hurt your feelings in those trying moments because it was uncalled for and not needed because you had done nothing to me,” she said.

On February 6, Zella announced the death of her American husband, James Juntunen.

She revealed that the father of her three children had been battling Parkinson’s disease. Zella mentioned that he had been diagnosed with the central nervous system disorder in 2012 and was not doing well.

In her apology, Zella added: “I think I was just miserable and hurting myself. I take full blame and full responsibility for my actions and I am really so sorry for hurting you and your loved ones, mainly the children.”

She revealed that having lost a husband too, she now understands what it feels like to lose a loved one.

“I truly apologise and now I understand the shoes you were in, nothing was intended personally because I knew nothing about you, but social media influence was the cause,” Zella said.

She promised never to diss the self-proclaimed Boss Lady and asked her to accept her apology.

“I am here to say I am sorry for those it affected. It will never happen again. I will always be a phone call away if you need my support. Please accept my apology,” Zella wrote.

On her part, Zari was appreciative. She thanked Zella for the post and called her a queen.

“It’s well, my Queen. You are appreciated,” Zari wrote.

The two women have been at loggerheads for ages. Each fought to prove to the other that she is the queen of Kampala.

They are known for throwing big-budget parties in Kampala. While Zella used to organise the Red and White Party, Zari organised the All White Party.

In 2017, Zella organised the Girl Power Party at Club Play, where she invited Tanzanian socialite Hamisa Mobetto. Mobetto and Zari don’t see eye-to-eye. They both have children by Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz. Zella said the party was meant to empower girls. On the other hand, Zari’s All White Party was organised next door at Guvnor.

Comparisons were drawn between the two events, with more people arguing that Zari’s beat Zella’s hands down.

Now that Zari and Zella have buried the hatchet, we are keeping our fingers crossed on socialite Bad Black and blogger Rita Kaggwa’s turn.
