Singer Phina Mugerwa Masanyalaze is the new vice-chairperson of the board of Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC).
The news was broken by the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) with a social media post congratulating her upon the appointment.
"This is a monumental achievement and a testament to the dedication, talent, and leadership within our community," they wrote.
Mugerwa is also the general secretary of UMA, a position she took over recently after quitting the Uganda National Musicians Federation.
The appointment will see Phina work with the likes of singers Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleon and Lillian Mbabazi, as well as comedian Hannington Bugingo, who are also board members of the UNCC.
UMA said her appointment marks a promising new chapter for Uganda's arts and culture sector .
"Let's extend our heartfelt congratulations and support to our general secretary and the entire new board of trustees because their vision is to have a unified and thriving artistic community across Uganda," they added.
