Ugandan artistes have suffered with road accidents. At least each year, one of them is involved in a car accident.

While David Lutalo survived an accident on Wednesday, May 4, on his way back to his home in Bunamwaya in Wakiso district, Renah Nalumansi cheated death on the Northern Bypass on Thursday, May 5.

Lutalo was in a Toyota Harrier when a heavily loaded trailer failed to ascend a hill.

His car, which was behind the trailer, was badly damaged and taken to Bunamwaya Police Station.

The singer has demanded that his car is repaired by the trailer driver.

Meanwhile, Renah’s car was knocked from behind by a lorry. She lost control and hit the road barriers, hence destroying her car.

The former Dream Galz singer thanked God for having lived to see another day.

“I didn’t think I would take another breath. Thank you, God, for yet another chance to live and sing for my people,” she posted.

Several artistes in Uganda would not be with us if they had not survived the accidents that nearly took their lives.

In 2017, Bebe Cool survived an accident that almost claimed his life after a Toyota Harrier rammed into his Hummer in Kireka, Wakiso district, taking fellow singer Dizzy Nuts’ life.

In August 2021, Kenzo also survived an accident in Maya on Masaka Road.

Other artistes such as Vampino, Ykee Benda, Pallaso, Tuff B, Jose Chameleone, Bobi Wine, Kato Lubwama have had a taste of such incidents.

Several others didn’t survive to tell the tale.

In 1997, Kadongo Kamu singer Herman Basudde perished in a nasty road accident on Masaka Road; Denis Rackla died in 2017 on his way from Kayunga; Menton Summer (who sang Sirikawo Baby with Emperor Orlando) died in 1997 in Iganga from Mbale, while Patience Najjuma of Golden Band died in Luwero.
