Reggae star Mulindwa blows Ugandan Diaspora away on Valentine’s Day

The fourth edition of the festival was held at the luxurious 5-star Crowne Plaza Hotel in Woburn, Massachusetts, US.

As lovers across the globe celebrated Valentine’s Day recently, Ugandans in the diaspora were treated to an electrifying showcase of roots and lovers rock reggae music during the Annual Reggae Love Festival, headlined by Ugandan-born reggae artiste George Mulindwa.

 

The fourth edition of the festival was held at the luxurious 5-star Crowne Plaza Hotel in Woburn, Massachusetts, US.

 

Born and raised in the vibrant heart of Uganda, Mulindwa is known for blending music with stories of resilience, love, and community. On Valentine’s Day, he immersed a strong turnout of fans in a rich fusion of cultures, carrying the rhythmic heartbeat of African roots reggae to the shores of Massachusetts.

With more than nine singles to his name, Mulindwa performed some of his latest releases including Sophia, Sunday, Luno Luyimba Lwo, Wanjogelela Bingi, Ndi Wuwo, Will Be Alright, Lwaki Why, and Omukazi Gwe Wampa. Each performance was crafted with soul and purpose, keeping the audience on its feet throughout the night.

 

The festival also featured performances from Ugandan-based artiste Mesach Semakula, Angela Kalule, Karitas Kario, Amanda Nass, and Bruno Ssemanda, all of whom delivered soulful and energetic sets. Semakula took fans on a nostalgic journey with hits such as Ntongo, Njagala Nga Bwendi, Sigwe Ansimila, and Taliyo, while Angella Kalule thrilled the crowd with her 2006 hit Katikitiki that did rounds on local charts here before she relocated to the US. She also introduced her new single on the night, alongside her other popular songs.

Other artistes including Sylvia Namugenyi, Grace Sekamatte, Faridah Kuteesa, Engineer Wycliff Luyombya, Latifah Ssenyondwa, Kapalaga, and Jenifer Kabanda also helped keep the festival’s tempo high.

 

Former radio personality, actor, and comedian Patricko Mujuuka, alongside actress Ruth Wanyana, served as the event’s MCs, keeping the evening flowing smoothly with humor and nostalgic references to Uganda’s vibrant entertainment scene.


At one point, Mesach Semakula returned to the stage to back Mulindwa,  a spontaneous and heartfelt moment that captured the spirit of unity and celebration that defined the night.

 

The fun-filled evening was complemented by a gourmet meal and a curated selection of drinks.
