Kenneth Kimuli alias Pablo celebrated 20 years of being a comedian at a charity event he held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
This was Pablo’s second event of the year having been part of the organisers of the recently concluded Kampala International Theatre festival, which took place in the last week of November, 2023.
He used the event to showcase his charity projects and how he has been using comedy to fundraise for them.
Pablo showed various TV documentaries, profiles and interviews to document his 20-year comedy career.
He was supported by various performing groups and comedians that curtain raised for him before he stepped on stage later at 9:00pm.
The comedians included Don Andre, Okello OKello and the kids that he works with his in his other TV projects
Pablo stepped on stage at 9:00pm since he was the event MC and a performer as well
He performed his various jokes and used the platform to thank everyone who contributed to his comedy.
“I would like to use this opportunity to thank my mentor Mr. Kwezi Kaganda, a former Ebonies actor for helping me become a comedian. Let me give him this award because he is the reason am here today. Let me give him this award,” he said.
He also thanked his production team led by Brian Kalanzi for working with him and for always being available whenever he needs them.
The guest of honour was the ministry of education and sports permanent secretary, Ketty Lamoro.
She thanked Pablo for using comedy to do charity and for promoting the ministry of education’s agenda of having graduates, who can use their skills to create jobs
“Pablo is doing what the new education ministry curriculum aims to achieve because the curriculum is aimed at helping students get skills that can help them be job creators. Pablo is a perfect example of this," Lamoro said.
Pablo used the event to launch his book titled Everything About Nothing and that the book contains his biography, profile and some of the jokes that he always performs and will be available for sale after the event
He said part of the money from the event will go towards helping girls that have been affected by HIV/AIDS because he is a victim of the pandemic
According to his biography he was born in 1978 and lost of both his parents to HIV/AIDS at an early age.
In 1988, his father died of HIV/AIDS, because of this, the family relocated to Mbarara where he continued his primary schooling in Boma Primary School and later on Bweranyangi Primary School where he did his Primary Leaving Examinations in 1993.
He continued his education in Mbarara High School where he sat his UCE in 1997 and later on UACE in 1999.
Kimuli then went to Namasagali University, acquiring a bachelor's degree in mass media, journalism and creative writing in 2003 and when he failed to get a job in the media industry, he ventured into comedy.
